From early November through mid-December, downtown holds a weekly Wednesday market, a monthly Thursday concert, and a Thanksgiving morning that puts a 5K and a parade on the same stretch of Avenue of the Fountains. Two weekends get a major event. Everything else falls on weekdays.
This shapes how you plan. Out-of-town guests arriving for a Saturday will find the Avenue quiet on most weekends. Residents who keep a Wednesday morning or a Thursday evening open will catch most of the season. The new restaurant at Eagle Mountain also keeps weeknight hours, which suits this schedule.
The season in order
The full stretch, from the week this post goes up through the December concert:
- Wednesday, Nov. 4: Art on the Avenue opens its weekly season, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Friday, Nov. 13 to Sunday, Nov. 15: Fall Fountain Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts on Avenue of the Fountains.
- Thursday, Nov. 19: 3rd Thursday Concert Series with Znora, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, Nov. 26: 36th Annual Turkey Trot at 7:15 a.m., then the Thanksgiving Day Parade at 9:30 a.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 5: Stroll in the Glow, 5 to 8 p.m., with the tree lighting around 5:45.
- Thursday, Dec. 17: The Sugar Thieves at the December concert.
That's six entries. The Wednesday market repeats every week, and three of the six fall on a Thursday.
Wednesdays, starting Nov. 4
The weekly anchor is Art on the Avenue. Its season starts Wednesday, Nov. 4, and runs every Wednesday through April 28, 2027, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to Experience Fountain Hills. That's roughly six months of midweek mornings on the Avenue, and it starts about two weeks after this post goes up.
Don't confuse it with the Saturday market. The Town of Fountain Hills held a separate fall farmers market on Saturdays in September, starting Sept. 5, and the town's announcement describes it as a Saturday event. If you went to that one and are waiting for it to come back on a weekend, the market that runs through the cooler months is the Wednesday one.
Thursday evenings at Centennial Pavilion
The 3rd Thursday Concert Series started its 2026–27 season on Oct. 15 with New Destiny, an R&B group. The next show is a month away. Shows run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Pavilion, 13001 N. La Montana Drive, next to the Fountain Hills Community Center. Admission is free and no RSVP is needed, and the organizers suggest bringing a lawn chair or a blanket.
The rest of the lineup, from Experience Fountain Hills:
- Nov. 19: Znora, blues and rock
- Dec. 17: The Sugar Thieves, blues and Americana
- Jan. 21: Aria Ratcliff & Rafe Centuori, jazz and soul
- Feb. 18: Backdoor Funk, R&B and funk
- Mar. 18: Little House of Funk, R&B and funk
Each date falls on the third Thursday, so you can put the whole season on your calendar now. The February show will be relevant again further down.
Thanksgiving morning on the Avenue
The busiest Thursday of the season is Nov. 26, when two events share the same stretch of downtown about two hours apart.
The 36th Annual Turkey Trot starts at 7:15 a.m. on Avenue of the Fountains. It offers a timed 5K run and a 1.5-mile Fitness Walk, and both routes go around Fountain Park and the fountain. In the town's announcement, Senior Recreation Program Coordinator Skylar Thomas said, "The Turkey Trot is about much more than the race," and described it as a chance for friends, families and visitors to start Thanksgiving with some fun and fresh air. The town invites runners, walkers, families and "costume enthusiasts."
The Thanksgiving Day Parade follows at 9:30 a.m. With the Trot starting at 7:15, someone walking the 1.5-mile route has time to finish and find a spot for the parade without hurrying. Families hosting relatives can make one trip downtown for both events and still be home before the turkey goes in.
The two weekends that do have something
Only two weekends this season hold a major event.
The Fall Fountain Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts runs Friday, Nov. 13, through Sunday, Nov. 15, on Avenue of the Fountains, with rows of artist booths, live music and food, according to Experience Fountain Hills. It starts on a Friday, so even this weekend event begins on a workday.
Stroll in the Glow is on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Avenue and Town Christmas tree lighting is scheduled for around 5:45. If you're planning to have guests in town for one weekend before the holidays, this is the one where downtown has a scheduled reason to visit.
Dinner on the same schedule
The town's newest notable restaurant keeps hours that line up with this calendar. Trilogy Restaurant opened in Eagle Mountain at 14815 E. Shea Blvd. The Fountain Hills Times reported an Aug. 20 opening, with a focus on seafood from around the world and views from the Eagle Mountain site. The same report said the name comes from chef partner Richard E. Pelz and partner, sommelier and general manager Dennis Payne building the restaurant around three things: food, wine and culture.
Its OpenTable listing showed it taking reservations as of mid-October 2026, with 77 reviews. Listed hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with happy hour from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Sunday and Monday aren't on the listing. So the restaurant's week runs Tuesday through Saturday, which overlaps neatly with the Thursday concerts. A 4 p.m. happy hour on Nov. 19 leaves time to get from Shea Boulevard to Centennial Pavilion before Znora starts at 6.
February, and what changes after
The project that will most change the town's calendar is still under construction. In its update dated Sept. 24, 2026, the International Dark Sky Discovery Center said its Phase 2 work is moving fast, drywall is in across many areas, and planetarium construction is continuing. The stated goal is to open "sometime in February." The center's project overview says "Opening in Early 2027!" February is a target, and the center hasn't announced an opening day, public hours or ticket prices.
The planned building includes the Dark Sky Observatory, the Craig and Ruth Gimbel Planetarium, the Inspiration Theater, the Night Sky Exhibit Hall and the Einstein Exploration Station. Programming is planned to cover STEM education, interactive exhibits, public observatory viewing, lectures, star parties and tours. The September update also previewed a Celestial Navigation interactive exhibit.
That connects back to Thursday nights. The February concert, Backdoor Funk on Feb. 18, falls in the month the center is aiming to open. If the target holds, Fountain Hills will add a regular evening attraction built around being out after dark, and the town's after-dark schedule will no longer depend on a single Thursday each month.
Whether you're hosting guests for the festival weekend or keeping an eye on the Dark Sky Discovery Center's opening, I'm happy to talk through what Fountain Hills' changing downtown calendar means for your own plans in town. Nick Steffes is here when you're ready. Let's Connect.
